Roundstone Design Home & Studio
|
Tucked away down an
ancient country road is the Roundstone Design Home & Studio.
With
an original Usonian design, the structure decorates the
forest
that surrounds it, without overpowering the beauty of
the Beech, Oak, Maple & Pine trees.
|
The design's connection
to
nature is evident through the
prevalent use of glass and clerestory skyscape which make many of the
rooms transparent.
Roof and deck planes step down from the studio to
the house.
Built into a hill, stepping down from it's crest, the master bedroom at the top and a
cantilevered deck at the bottom, the structures are carefully integrated into the
site.
The horizontal focus is expressed in the
dramatic overhangs, creating shade and shelter throughout the year.
|
The wooden foundation is a unique building technique, that truly
exemplifies environmentally conscious design and building.
|
|
The interior rooms are
seperated by partial walls, this design feature facilitates air circulation through
out the house.
The floor is a beautiful bamboo, adding a sustainable finish to the
rest of the wooden structure.
